JEROME HECK

Pots From Heck   ••••••  Jerome Heck

In 1991, I retired from the US Navy as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer.  I set up my ceramic studio in the beautiful hills of Pupukea near Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

I enjoy the tactile feel of raw clay and the ability to create as I work.  Clay allows me to explore simple ideas and complex concepts.  After the artwork is constructed, the work is finished using a variety of glazing and firing techniques.  To the knowledgeable, there are infinite possibilities to explore in ceramics.  Success or failure can come at any juncture of the process.  I have experience both.

My work was selected and published in two books by Tim Andrews, RAKU - A Review of Contemporary Work (1994) and Raku second edition (2005).
